Ariving in Bangkok - Two Airports

Remember that in Bangkok - there are two airports:

1. Suvarnabhumi Airport - Main Airport - where all the international flights are landing. No matter if you are coming from Europe, Americas, Africa, Australia - you will land here! A huge airport - very busy, and overcrowded most of the time. Still pretty well organized and easy to find means of transport to the other airport or to City Center! I've not seen any hastle at the airport or close to it. 

2. Don Mueang Airport - Internal airport - where most of the flights are ariving from within Thailand, but also from nearby countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos. 

Connection between the airports:

Taxis and Grab/Bolt are all easily accessible on a level 1 of the airport - there are signs, and Grab has even a waiting room - might be needed - as the weather and humidity can be difficult to bear - especially if you have just landed from cold Finland (see the other topic)

1. Grab/Bolt - both systems are working and I highly recommended using it. There are no problems/challenges to find a place where both companies are having their cars - very clearly marked by signs at the airport. Prefered due to the fact of knowing the price before start. Remember that there might be additional cost for: Highway (driver should inform you), for leaving the airport (driver should also inform you). Beaware that the "fee" for leaving a place is very common across Asia (we have seen this in Vietnam too) - not only for airport, but also for bigger bus stations, the cost is not huge ie. 50-100 THB, but still good to know - sometimes the driver could ask you to give him money - but you can insist on him adding this fee into the receipt in the app. 

2. Taxi - there are dozens of taxis, and there are also taxi-mats - which allows you to place an order for TAXI. Those machines are working in English (also) and you can easily provide the complete information about destination - and it prints out the card that you can take to one of many taxi drivers (i've not seen any "illegal" taxi drivers) - and he does not need to understand english and will take you to the place - it should also contain information about the cost of the trip. If not, you can always visit and information office for Taxi just nearby.

3. Bus - there is a bus (free of charge if you have plane ticket within 24 hours) - that will take you straight to the second airport. The bus stop is clearly marked and there are a few people that are checking your plan tickets and are able to tell you when the next bus would be. 

Disclaimer: it takes at least 1,5h to move from one airport to another, both ways. Does not matter the time of the day - of course it would be faster at midnight or 2 am, but still you need to take into consideration the time it takes.

Layover in BKK

1. It is very easy and cheap to lay over in BKK - i highly recommend this way - as it will leave you more time for any "unexpected" challenges.

2. Use Booking.com or/and Agoda.com the second one is asian application similar to Booking - i've came to conclusion that it is cheaper and there are more hotels, but i recommend comparision.

3. Food around the Airport - there are lots of street stalls or Night Markets to grab something to eat. Definately not recommending airport food - it is not even Thai - it is european/american.

1. Grab/Bolt

2. Taxi

3. Busses - i've not checked this one - so cannot tell you - but the communciation in BKK is fairly easy - most of the places are connected to each other - either via Sky Train or via Subway, busses. Remember about the trafic - which is high
